Membership Registration: Ogboru, Keyamo, Kokori, Ochie, Other Stakeholders Out, Agege In, As Delta APC Meets

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has held what was supposed to be a critical Stakeholders/Leaders’ meeting on Wednesday, but had many of the party stalwarts absent with the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the only party bigwit present according to sources at the venue of the said meeting.

The meeting took place at the State Party’s Secretariat at Anwai/Illah Road in the state capital, Asaba.

According to Pro-Erue sources, at the meeting were members of the Registration Committee, the national leadership of the party saddled with the responsibilities of carrying out the membership registration and revalidation exercise in the State.

A statement signed by Sylvester Imonina, Esq., Publicity Secretary (Caretaker), Delta State, dated 4th of February, 2021, said “the political creme de la creme of the party and party stakeholders who were/are determined to chart a way forward for a hitch free membership registration and revalidation exercise were also on ground.”

The statement added: “The Chairman of the Registration and Revalidation Committee from Abuja, His Excellency, Distinguished Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, the State Chairman APC Caretaker Committee, Prophet Jones Ode Erue and other party leaders present who spoke to party stakeholders and members of the press, all agreed to work together for the good of the party.”

The statement continued that: “It was the position of the Chairman of the Registration and Revalidation Committee from Abuja that in line with the Party’s mandate, there shall be LGA supervisors for the 25 LGAs in the State, Ward supervisors in the 270 Wards in the State who shall be in charge of coordination of the exercises at the different Wards, Polling Units supervisors who shall man the polling Units for the exercise and other decisions reached.”

According to the statement, the registration and revalidation exercise begins on the 9th of February to the 23rd, adding that there will be no membership registration by proxy.

Meanwhile, a statement credited to a member of the APC identified as ESN who said he was at the meeting, stated that “the state chairman in his usual self-style remorseful act was on his knees seeking for forgiveness for all the wrongs he has done to the party.”

According to ESN, the State Chairman Prophet Jones who is blessed with special intelligence when it comes to manipulating the minds of Delta APC leaders sought the support of party faithful in the ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise.

ESN said: “In the critical stakeholders list forwarded by Prophet Jones, he deliberately unlawfully removed some LGA Caretaker Chairmen, replacing them with strange names as was the case of Oshimili South Local Government Area where the name of a PDP defector, Ogbueshi Ndudi Umunna,” who he said was placed as the acting LGA chairman against the consent Judgment Chairman, Ogbueshi Ben Onwuka.

Speaking further, ESN said at the meeting, “Prophet Jones denied being responsible for the unlawful exclusion of the Consent Judgement chairmen from the Delta north critical stakeholders list invited for the meeting, thereby pointing fingers at Mr Onwuadiamu.”

“The unlawful exclusion of some Delta north leaders and LGA chairmen from the critical stakeholders list met serious resistance as the Caretaker Youth leaders from Delta North mobilized themselves to block entrance against anyone whose name is not in the Consent Judgement executive list but enlisted as acting LGA chairman.

“The resistant despite heavy security presence warranted the denial of one of DSP’s aide, Mr Onwuadiamu from gaining access into the party Secretariat. Other instigators from Delta north who conspired in the unlawful exclusion of LGA chairmen were also denied access in to the state Secretariat.

“However, Mr Onwuadiamu was later sneaked in through the DSP’s entourage. There was alleged report of violence but calmness later returned.

“The DSP noticed and acknowledged the weakness of those he had trusted especially in Delta north. He admonished all party faithful to cooperate in the registration exercise as he made it clear that the registration materials shall be handed over to capable hands who will carry out the assignment to meet satisfaction,” he said.

Adding: “Notable leaders of the party from the state were conspicuously absent including the Honourable Minister, Festus Keyamo SAN, the foremost leader of the party in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the party 2019 governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru; Former Speaker and incumbent Director of Labour and Carbotage in NIMASA, Rt. Hon Engr Victor Ochei; Former EDP, NDDC, Engr Samuel Adjogbe; State Rep at South South Reconciliation Committee, Dr. Mariam Ali; BOT member, Frank Kokori, Former EDP, NDDC under IMC, Dr Cairo Ojougboh among many other statutory members of State Executive Committee, SEC.”
