With few hours to the commencement of local government elections in Sapele, Delta State, sources say tension is currently brewing over who will emerge as winners of the elections on Saturday, with Chieftains of the two parties, House of Assembly member representing Sapele, Hon Felix Anirah, and Chief Paulinus Akpeki, former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart and presenty APC leader exchanging banters.

Anirah during a media chat on Wednesday derided the APC leader, saying the APC in Delta had refused to campaign, adding that this is because thy know they stand no chance in Delta

According to Anirah, APC is a group of people who have come together to loot the nation’s treasury..

Chief Anirah, a decampee from APC in 2015 back to PDP, had said APC’s failure at the federal level was seen by all.

Continuing, he said members of the ruling party at the federal level as incoherent, trouble makers and a group of people who believe in what they can grab for themselves.

Anirah said: “Children can no longer go to school, they are kidnapped on daily basis, and what is the legacy they are leavefor us”.

“Fuel was affordable when PDP was there, but as we speak today, it is beyond the reach of the poor man, coming to the Central Bank, the naira from one hundred and seventy (#170) has moved to four hundred and seventy five naira, over 300percent on the stock exchange and they know this.
They have decided not to campaign, because it will be foolhardy to campaign in PDP dominated state of Delta adding, there is no reason while they are controlling the centre and fighting among themselves at state level, is an indication that they are just a group of jokers”.

Furthermore, he lamented the high rate of insecurity in the country..

Reacting, Chief Paulinus Akpeki on Thuraday berated the Delta House of Assembly member, saying it was obvious he must have made that comment over some bottles of beer, as the APC Chieftain challenged Chief Anirah to show his constituency projects to the people.

Akpeki, in a press statement, opined that the reason why the River State governor Dr Nyesom Wike has refused to come to commission projects in Delta State, stating it was because his projects are shoddily handled across the state.

Akpeki, displaying the Vanguard newspaper report accusing APC on its failure to campaign in the Saturday March 6th LG elections said Anirah has a right to say anything, let him talk, he must have said so over a bottle of beer but we don’t drink anyhow in APC”.

He continued: “But if he says so, then let me tell you that Desopadec did the last project he claim to have done, I saw it on rero tv, the supply of chairs and desks, let him show us his constituency projects, let PDP show us what they have done to warrant votes, the council chairman should show us what they use the allocation they have received from January 2018 till date to do, Is it the landscaping of the council or the stores at Okirigwhre, is that what he used all the money for?” adding that most roads here are done by the All Progressive Congress.

Akpeki, while responding to question on why APC stalwarts in the local government were absent at the rally, said “there is no division in the party, but come to think of it, is there a party that don’t have crack, let me tell you this Wike refuse to commission projects with Governor Okowa because his (Okowa) jobs are shoddy, and the same National PDP chairman, Chief Uche Secondus is not in good terms with Barr Wike, so there are cracks everywhere.”

Seaking furrther, he said APC will only accept the election result if votes are counted in the polling votes and announced there immediately.
