Court Orders Remand Of 12-Yr-Old Girl For Saying She Willingly Eloped With A 38-Yr-Old Man
A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt, River State, has remanded a 12-year-old girl (name withheld), in the Port Harcourt Remand Home for telling the court that she willingly eloped and consented to s*xual relations with a 38-year-old, Alfred Chikere for over a month.
According to reports, the accused, Alfred Chikere, was sent to prison custody until his bail application is entertained for eloping with the 12-year-old girl.
Chikere, who was arraigned before Senior Magistrate C.J. Digwe on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, was slammed with two counts of abduction and defilement of a teenager and will be prosecuted under Section 361 of the Criminal Code of the Rivers State Laws.
The accused camped the 12-year-old girl in his house for up to a month before the parents launched a search for her whereabouts, the court heard.
The Prosecutor, ASP Omorujia, further told the court that the man abducted the girl as a virgin and deflowered her through the one month he took her in.
According to the prosecutor, the girl clearly told the court that the accused was not her first boyfriend and that she willingly went to the man’s house to stay because she likes s*x.
