Fulani Herdsmen Killings: Ethiope East Council Boss Assures Abraka Farmers Of Drastic Measures To Protect Them

Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area in Delta State, Pharm. (Hon.) Victor Ofobrukueta, has assured farmers in Abraka of his commitment to their safety and protection in shielding them from further harassment from Fulani herdsmen.

Hon. Ofobrukueta said this on Thursday while appealing to protesting farmers in the community to sheathe their swords, go home and give relevant authorities time to carry out actions to secure them henceforth.

The protesting farmers from Abraka joined by farmers in Ukwuani Local Government Area had mounted roadblocks in the ever-busy Abraka-Agbor expressway thereby hindering vehicular movements.

Also, in a social media post, the council chairman said: ”I was at the Urhuoka junction and Campus 3 Abraka/Obiaruku express road Abraka, where Abraka/Ukwuani Farmers barricaded access roads on a peaceful protest against incessant killings, raping by notorious Herdsmen.

“I sympathized with the farmers over the recent killing of a farmer and his two sons on their way back from farm on Sunday.”

“I assured the farmers that it is the paramount responsible of Government to keeps its citizens safe, on this note, I assured them that in the next 48 hours, drastic measures will be put in place to bring to the minimal the activities of these notorious Herdsmen.

“The barricades were removed and there is free flow of traffic,” he added.
