Delta Council Elections: Police Deploy 8292 Personnel, Warn Parties, Supporters Against Violence
The Delta state police command has deployed a total of 8292 police officers for the conduct of the local government elections coming up on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
The election is to fill the offices of chairmen and councilors in the 25 local government areas of the state. There are 25 local government areas to be filled and 20 ward councillors in each of the 25 local councils making a total of 500 councilors in the state.
The election is principally between the People’s Democratic party PDP and the All Progressives Congress APC, though the PDP is more dominant in Delta state.

The police command in a statement by the police public relations officer, Bright Edafe, warned all parties in the election and their footsoldiers to abide by rules governing election warning that violation would be met with stiff resistance.
It also said that no security aide will be allowed into the polling units with their bosses or principals.
