Ethiope East: We Fought A Good Fight, Voke Ighorodje Reacts To Council Poll Outcome

The chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State in the March 6 polls, Hon Voke Ighorodje, has commended the people of Ethiope East for the support shown him before, during and after the council elections.

Although APC pulled out of the election on Saturday over what they said was due to the non-availability of results in many places across the state and elections not conducted in many places, the campaign organization of the party’s candidate in Ethiope East said “they fought a good fight.”

Results announced by DSIEC said he came Ighorodje came second behind PDP’s candidate, Victor Ofobukueta.

A statement signed by his campaign organization, Voke Ighorodje Campaign Council, said: “We wish to thank all members of the council for their selfless service and believing in the Ethiope East LGA vision of a Better Ethiope East LGA.

“I thank my Councillorship Candidates who displayed uncommon strength and courage, party leaders who encouraged us particularly the Director-General of the Campaign Council, Chief Julius Ogboru and Chairman of Elders/Leaders Forum, Elder Joseph Ayeni and many other leaders.”

The statement added: “We gave a good account of ourselves and displayed great capacity. I believe this is just the beginning and the future is bright. I appreciate the opportunity to unify the party in Ethiope East LGA particularly the coming together of Chief (Dr.) Martins Owhoevwho and his group to join our campaign.

“I am indeed grateful to my great party for giving me the opportunity to be the flag bearer and the financial support from many leaders some whom I have not met physically. I believe the struggle is continuing for the redemption of our great Ethiope East LGA and I believe confidently that victory is sure.”
