Okowa Condoles Professor Nelson Edewor Over Father’s Demise

Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has condoled a lecturer with the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Rev. (Prof.) Nelson Edewor, over the demise of his father, Rt. Revd. Jonathan Francis Edewor.

In a condolence message to the university don dated 14th April, 2021, Governor Okowa said: “On behalf of the Government and good people of Delta State, I commiserate with you and the entire family on the passage of your father, Rt. Revd. Jonathan Francis Ekokotu Edewor, HCJP.”

According to a condolence message to the Edewor family, Okowa said “his demise has left a huge vacuum in the family,” adding that the deceased has finished his course after running his race and “is now resting in the bosom of the Lord.”

According to the condolence message “the late reverend gentleman left indelible footprints not just in the vineyard of the Lord, but also in the teaching profession and the public service.”

Adding: “As the pioneer Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Member, State Implementation Committee on the War Against Indiscipline and Corruption, and Chairman of the Committee on Handover Of Mission Schools in Delta State, the late Rev Edewor played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the teaching profession and the Delta State Civil Service.”

He continued: “Posterity will remember him as a fine teacher and diligent public servant whose primary purpose was to leave a legacy of faith, discipline, godly character, and a life dedicated to the service of humanity.”

Pa Edewor was buried in Oleh on Saturday in a ceremony witnessed by a mammoth crowd from all walks of life.
