DC-23 Replies Critics, Says Group Not Out To Fight Okowa, Project Any Candidate
By Daniel Dafe (Abraka)
The leadership of Delta Central 2023 (DC-23), has countered critics that said the group was out to oppose Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and at the same time project a particular candidate.
Recall that staunch supporters of Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, an aspirant for the governorship seat in 2023, has alleged that DC-23 was Chief Ighoyota Amori’s arrangement to project Olorogun David Edevbie.
In a statement signed by Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo, Esq. National Publicity Secretary -ELECT, DC-23, the group said such claims are misconceptions and assumptions by some highly placed individuals of Delta Central Senatorial District extraction that does not reflect their aspirations, aims and objectives.
Adding: “Most of these highly placed individuals are illustrious sons of Urhobo nation and eminently qualified to contest for any position of their choice. However, they should not work with assumptions but real facts.”
The statement reads in part: “Firstly, there was never a time or meeting where members of the group were forced to sign a constitution as alleged by some of our people.

“Secondly, the group as constituted has no intention to fight anybody let alone our Governor H.E Sen Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa or his Government on politics of 2023.
“Thirdly, being a pressure group, we are not the Party, neither are we taking the place of the Party.
“Fourthly, DC-23 is not set up to propagate any individual ambition but the collective ambition of the Urhobo people in Delta Central. This we intend to achieve through lobbying, engagement and building bridges of friendship within and across the entire State.”
According to the statement, “nobody or group of persons should try to pitch this group against H.E the Governor or any institution and other stakeholders in the body politics of the State. Such will be exercise in futility and dead on arrival.”
DC-23 urged all and sundry who believe in the Delta Central project to come on board and contribute to the actualization of their goal in 2023.
