The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has congratulated the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on his birthday.

The Council described Senator Okowa as a humble, accessible, and listening leader whose administration positively impacted the lives of many Deltans.

In a statement signed by Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, and Acting Secretary, Comrade Josephine Omodior, the Council praised his people-oriented leadership.

The NUJ said Okowa’s administration, from 2015 to 2023, was distinguished by policies that promoted workers’ welfare and strengthened democratic governance.

The Council recalled that his approval of notional promotions to Grade Level 17 ended years of career stagnation in the Delta State Civil Service.

According to the statement, the decision restored hope, boosted morale, and rewarded dedicated civil servants who previously retired on Grade Level 16.

The Council also applauded Okowa for approving two additional departments in the Delta State Ministry of Information.

It noted that the decision enhanced career progression for Information Officers and created greater opportunities for professional growth and improved service delivery.

The Council stated that these and many other people-centred initiatives have secured Senator Okowa a lasting place in the hearts of Deltans.
