FIFA Postpones June World Cup Qualifiers In Africa, Confirms New Dates
The world football governing body, Federation International Football Association (FIFA), has announced a new window of qualification series for African countries for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new dates published on its website confirming that matches should be played within September 2021 to March 2022 instead of the earlier scheduled date, from June 2021.
It stated, “FIFA can confirm that in conjunction with CAF and taking into consideration the current disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to ensure optimal playing conditions for all teams, it has been decided to postpone the African qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 that were due to be played in June 2021.

The qualifiers are now scheduled to take place in the existing windows of September, October and November 2021, and March 2022.”
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are in Group C alongside Liberia, Cape Verde and Central African Republic (C.A.R).
