Students yet to pay their school fees have appealed to the Professor Andy Egwuyenga-led adminstration to extend the deadline.

Some of the students who spoke with Oasis Magazine (OM) alleged that the initial announcement gave June 4, 2021 (today) as the deadline for payments, adding that the portal was shut a day before the deadline.

A statement signed by Rt. Hon.(Comr.) Solomon Mukolo, President, S.U.G through Comr. Gregory Mudia Ekrakene, Director of Information, S.U.G, had said: “This is to inform all Delsuites that payment of school fee and course registration ends tommorow, 4th of June 2021 by 11:59PM which implies that there won’t be late payment.

“Also, all 100 level students that have not been able to pay their fees and also register their courses due to screening issues should assemble at the S.U.G Secretariat located at site 3 by 1pm today, 3rd of June 2021 and should come with proof of studentship which is admission letter and also proof of reasons why they haven’t screened.”

The said students that spoke under conditions of anonymity said at least the June 4 deadline would have been kept, but appealed that it should be shifted further.

“Today is 4th June and students portal is showing you are not eligible to pay fees for this session as at this morning.

“Many of us just succeeded in getting our school fees yesterday. We cannot afford to be prevented from making payments. We know the VC is understanding and will do the needful,” a student said.

Attempts to speak with the Vice Chancellor proved abortive, as he did not pick calls put across to his mobile phone number, likely because he was indisposed.
