Fulani Threats: Be Vigilant, Chief Uwalaka Tells Deltans

By Daniel Dafe, Abraka
A security expert and the Coordinator, Non-Indigenes, Delta Central, Chief Nnamdi Uwalaka, has advised Deltans to be vigilant, as the state government and security operatives beef up security in response to threats by a group that claimed to be Fulani Jihadists.
Recall that the said group recently threatened to attack Asaba and Agbor except Governor Ifeanyi Okowa withdraws his support for the ban on open grazing in the South South.
Chief Uwalaka, who is also the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Sapele Area Command, spoke to journalists in his Abraka office recently.
He added that the group claiming to be Fulanis Jihadists just wants to create problems between the state government and non-indigenes in Delta.

According to him, the Fulanis in Delta are peace loving and the threat can only emanate from enemies of the state and not Fulanis in the state.
He however, urged the Fulani community in Delta to be watchful and identify bad elements amongst them so as to turn such over to security agencies for prosecution.
Continuing, he called on the Okowa-led administration to carry out a thorough investigation on the source of the said publication.
Furthermore, he commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Mohammed for his immediate intervention in dispelling the tensed atmosphere then in the state and the fear that had taken over a large section of Delta because of the threats from the group.
He also called on Deltans to support the Okowa administration and the police force in order to keep on securing the state and thus attract more needed development to the oil-rich state.
