A political stalwart in Delta State, Senator Ighoyota Amori, has termed the senatorial zoning arrangement for the governorship position by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state as a “divine arrangement,” adding that anyone from other Senatorial district apart from Central is free to contest for the exalted seat.

Recall that by the zoning arrangement in PDP, Delta Central is supposed to produce the next governor since Delta South and North just like Central have all taken their turns at Osadebey House.

Amori, while responding to questions from journalists in Asaba recently, noted that all the rumours flying around concerning the zoning arrangement with regards to the 2023 governorship election is not necessary as zoning in Delta State always takes its natural course.

In his words: “The argument concerning zoning does not hold water. There is a rotational formula and if you go against it, you will lose.

“There was never a time that only one tribe contested for governorship in Delta State and this time will not be different. You cannot force zoning on people; you can only appeal. We know where the pendulum will swing and that will be repeated in 2023. It is an Olympic game in which everybody must not win, but we know in PDP that as it was in the beginning so shall it be till the end.”

Reacting to the fast growing views that Governor Okowa has decided to zone the governorship position to Delta South, Senator Amori said he found it impossible to align with such view.

According to him, “that is not possible. Anybody that says Okowa will handover to anybody in Delta South is not just wrong but politically myopic.”

“Okowa himself went through the process and so will be the next governor, come 2023.”

On the exit of Senator Nwaoboshi from the PDP and its implication, the well spoken Senator, said that the party is still intact.

“PDP is still intact. Politics is all about crises and crises management and the ability to manage the crises makes the party stronger.

“So for us, there is no crises ion Delta PDP because disagreement to agree is part of the process.”
