Sapele: Chief London Omoraka Foundation Distributes Cash Grant To Fifty Poor Widows

Chief London Omoraka Foundation,, an organization set up to honour Okpe illustrious son, Olorogun London Omoraka, has distributed cash gift to 50 poor and vulnerable widows.
The son of the late Chief, Chief Dickson Omoraka, said in a statement on Saturday that the gesture was part of his efforts to empower and rehabilitate widows whose livelihoods had been cut short by their husbands’ demise.
“Our mission is to bring support to the less privileged and vulnerable people that is why we aim at re-integrating women with a particular focus on widows through the strategy tagged `C.A.R.E.’ (Counselling, Advisory, Rehabilitation and Empowerment),” he said.
He told the crowd how the idea for the foundation started, saying “my younger brother, Mr Okefe Omoraka, suggested it and when I saw that it stood for all what papa stood for in touching lives, I embraced it.”

He said that the Foundation was established to put smiles on the faces of poor widows and orphans that might have been forgotten by the society, especially during tough periods of this.
Chief Dickson also emphasized how their father was a caring man who went the extra mile to educate them,” adding that he also left a landed property for each of them.
On modalities for picking the beneficiaries, he said they felt it was not proper to just select widows from only his community, that was why other Okpe communities were handed five slot each, saying that the cash should be accepted in good faith.

Professor Tonukari who also spoke on life and times of the late Chief, praised the children for carrying out the rich legacy of their father.
Upon receiving the empowerment cash, the women could not help praying for the Omorakas while some who could not hold back their joy broke into song praising Chief London Omoraka and the children.
The Late Okanuro, London Omoraka, who passed on two years ago is well renowned for his contribution to humanity and this is one of the many possible traits that his offsprings have emulated from their prominent father.
