Executive Governor of Rivers State, Gov. Nyesom Wike has said that the present leadership quagmire in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has disqualified the party from taking over from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), come 2023.
While speaking on the state of the polity on a live TV show, ‘Sunrise Daily’ aired on Channels Television and monitored by Oasis Magazine (OM), Wike added: “..with what we have now, it will be difficult to take over the reigns of power in 2023 if there are no amendments”.
He further said “..and somebody will tell me I should not speak out, somebody will tell me you don’t need to talk out, no! no! it will not be so, I owe it a duty to my party, to make sure we position ourselves to take over power in 2023”.

The governor also was quick to dismiss rumours of him having presidential ambitions when asked if he has any, he said “Am I not qualified to have a presidential ambitions, but for Christ sake I’ve not met anybody whether a retired general or whatever it is, that I will want to run for presidency, but that also does not mean that you can use that to intimidate me, no no, things are wrong in the party and you speak out and somebody somewhere tells you, you are doing that because you want to hijack the party”.
Governor Wike also emphatically stated that he cannot see the present National Working Committee (NWC) of the party leading PDP to victory in upcoming elections.
He also debunked reports that he wanted Secondus out so he can hijack the structure of the party.
