CCC First Leg: Les Buffles Face FAR Rabat As NIgeria’s Chiche Okpala Set For Continental Showdown

Les Buffles of Republic of Ben’in will travel to Morocco to take on FAR Rabat also know as ASFAR in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The in-form Parakou based side, will rely on thier new 20-year-old Nigeria striker, Chiche Henry Okpala up front when they face their first huge task against a very experienced side in continental competitions.
The Association Sportive des Forces Armées Royales, also known as the Royal Army Club was founded in 1958 soon after Morocco had gained her independence.
ASFAR is one of the most successful clubs in Morocco with 30 titles in total, and became the first Moroccan team to win one of the African cup competitions, the African Cup of Champions Clubs in 1985, and has never been relegated to the Moroccan Second Division.
ASFAR is the most successful Moroccan club of the 20th century, and was ranked first locally, 10 continental and 201 universally, in the international rankings of clubs during the first ten years of the 21st century (2001-2010), issued by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics in 2011.
ASFAR finished third in the Botola league with 51 points behind Wydad AC and Raja Casablanca with 67 and 59 points respectively.
The return leg is billed to hold on Saturday, 18th September 1400hrs at the Stade De L’Amitie Cotonou.
