Delta 2023: Ijaws And Itsekiris Are Inseparable, Says Ejele
…Ijaw Nation Quest To Be Governor In 2023 Is Not Based On Ethnicity But On Equity, Fairness And Justice —Bozimo
A frontline political leader and Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Honourable Michael Diden aka Ejele, has said the ijaws stood firmly in support of the governorship bid of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in 2015 and assured that their quest to be Governor in 2023 is not out of place.
Honourable Diden stated this when he received a high powered delegation of the Delta Ijaw for Governor 2023 Lobby Team led by former Police Affairs Minister, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo in his home in Sapele in continuation of the team’s consultative visits to ethnic nationalities leaders, Traditional rulers, political leaders, elders and stakeholders.
Hon. Ejele said that the Ijaw quest for the governorship seat in 2023 will be considered by stakeholders.
He added that Alaowei Broderick Bozimo and the Ijaws stood firmly in support of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in his bid to become Governor in 2015 and that Bozimo’s disposition gave him confidence.

“When the struggle for Okowa to be Governor began, one big man that stood firmly for him and could not be swayed was Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, his disposition gave us confidence to the extent that the confidence made us the younger ones to remain resolute and he became a field Marshall while we became his lieutenants”.
“It was not a mistake for the ijaws to sit and select Alaowei Broderick Bozimo again to be their driver this time around”….he added.
Honourable Diden promised the delegation that key stakeholders will meet on the ijaw request to become Governor in 2023 and assured that at the end there will be shouts of hallelujah.
“Honourable Diden told Alaowei Bozimo…….”the present Governor is your son and I have said it openly that anywhere Okowa goes is where we will go…..and I know that with you things can change”.
Honourable Diden who is also the Leader of Delta Political Vanguard noted that the ijaws and the itsekiris are inseparable and must work together to achieve a common goal.
He spoke in parables….”no Ijaw man that is not Itsekiri and no Itsekiri man that is not Ijaw……..we must work together,…the big river Ethiope you are seeing in Sapele has its source in Umutu….the river Ethiope is in the hands of Alaowei Bozimo”.
Earlier, the Leader of the Delta Ijaw for Governor 2023 Lobby Team and former Minister of Police Affairs, Alaowei Broderick Bozimo said the consultative visit was to solicit the support of Honourable Michael Diden and the Itsekiri nation for an ijaw Governor in 2023, saying that the quest of the ijaws was not based on ethnicity but on the ground of equity, fairness and justice.
“We want to plead as brothers and sisters , it is good for those who have enjoyed the governorship seat to allow those who have not had the opportunity to have it, it will be good if it goes round , it is not by power or shouting, it is by the special grace of God”.
He added….” like Ejele will always say, it is turn by turn Nigeria limited,…it is like osusu, it has gone its full circle, it must not be the person that collected first that will be first again in the new circle….with support of our brothers and sisters in Iwere land, we want to register our interest in the governorship seat in 2023.
“We want to plead with the Itsekiri nation, I know we have had our turbulence in the past but that is in the past , we are committed to peaceful coexistence…… hence the Ijaw nation massively supported Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan for Governor of Delta State from 2007 to 2015.
Alaowei Bozimo commended Honourable Michael Diden (Ejele) for the dedicated role he played towards Okowa’s emergence as Governor describing him as a man who speaks truth to power no matter whose ox is gored.
He further noted that the Itsekiris and Ijaws must forge a common front to make their lands prosperous.
