Warri South Council Sympathizes With Victims, Management As Fire Guts Business Centre At COEWA

The Executive Council of Warri South Local Government, earlier today, Thursday August 26, sympathized with the management of College of Education, Warri, COEWA and victims of a fire incident that destroyed three shops at a business centre in the institution in the wee-hours of today (Thursday).

The Registrar of College of Education, Warri, Mrs. Christine Aluyi, who received the Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Chief (Mrs.) Divine Iniovosa and Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, on behalf of Provost of the Institution, Dr. Dickson Oyovwi, disclosed that the management got distress call at about 1:00am that fire had engulfed a section of the long stretch of building, accommodating different business centres.

According to Mrs. Aluyi, it took the intervention of people around and the prompt response of officers of Delta State Fire Service, to put out the fire and prevented it from spreading to other shops and structures in the school.

The cause of the inferno could not be ascertained as at the time of this report and owners of the affected business concerns were not on ground when the Warri South Council delegation dashed to the school.

Deep Freezers, gas cylinders, computers, photocopiers, UPS, printers, pieces of furniture and other valuable accessories, were completely burnt as a result of the blaze.

Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Chief (Mrs.) Divine Iniovosa, who told the management of COEWA that the Council’s delegation visited the institution on the behest of the Warri South Chairman, Dr. Michael Tidi, prayed against a repeat of the incident and assured the school management of the continuous support of the administration.
