DELSU Holds SUG Elections, Announces Odifili Cyprian Unopposed, President-Elect

Odifili Cyprian, a 300 Level student of History and International Studies, will pilot the affairs of the Students’ Union Government in Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, for the 2021/2022 Academic Session.
Dean of Students of the institution, Professor Maxwell Iwegbue, disclosed this while announcing the election results on Thursday in Site 11 of the campus in Abraka.
While calling on the elected executive to be determined to contribute their best, he said in future elections, students will be allowed to decide the fate of unopposed candidates, adding that if they are rejected, a bye-election will be held.
Of the other eight offices, the positions of Director of Socials and Director of Information were also declared
unopposed.

Meanwhile, some students that spoke to Oasis Magazine suggested that during the next election, the time frame for the sale of forms should be extended, stressing that the short time given to students to purchase forms to vie for any office of their choice should be increased in order to erase the conclusion by some students that the arrangement to shorten the time frame for sale of forms was the Students’ Affairs Division’s way to knockout some would-be aspirants and give the advantage to preferred aspirants.
Swearing-in of elected officers will take place on Monday, October 4, 2021.
