Governor El-Rufai Says Northern Governors Not Opposed To Zoning 2023 Presidency To The South
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has said the Northern Governor’s Forum never opposed zoning the Presidency to the South in 2023.
The governor who said this during a media parley with some Kaduna based Journalists, said the members of the forum were against the language used by the Southern Governors during their resolution about the power shift.
According to El-Rufai, they were not happy with the Southern Governors for saying power must return to the South, saying that the use of the word “must” contradicts the Democratic provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended.
He stated that the Media misrepresented the resolution of the Northern Governors Forum on the Power shift in 2023.

He said they have been supporting the South like they did for former President Olusegun Obasanjo. That the Southern Governors would have reached out to their Northern counterpart to discuss on the issue.
The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong while reading a communique to Journalists on Monday after the emergency meeting, said some Governors had earlier suggested a power shift to the Three Geo-Political Zones in the South so as to promote peace and unity in the Country.
