Inoaghan Rehabilitates Failed Portion Of Old Sapele-Warri Road

The Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State, Hon Chief Eugene Inoaghan, has began the rehabilitation of the failed portion of Old Sapele-Warri Road (Amukpe Garage).

The council boss went on to inspect the extent of work done on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 which had commenced on Monday September 20, 2021.

Speaking during the inspection, the chairman said that despite the huge cost of the project, his administration was ready to ease the nightmare motorist go through on a daily basis since the road became faulty, adding that he will soon commence rehabilitation on the Sapele Benin Road by the Okirighwre Army checkpoint as well.

Eugene further stated that the ultimate objective of the rehabilitation of the two hundred metres of the failed portion road is to ultimately reduce traffic congestion for commuters, adding that the road would be rehabilitated to standard.

The Sapele council boss maintained that though the road is a federal road, his administration has resolved to do the rehabilitation despite paucity of funds.

“This administration has a lot of work to do, and we won’t relent in our effort to bring the dividends of democracy to Sapele people, just as Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is doing for the state, this portion of failed road is very critical to the people of Amukpe and Sapele in general.

The project engineer and head of works, Sapele Local Government Area, Engineer Matthew Okotie who also spoke to journalist said the idea to rehabilitate the road was conceived months ago, adding that the LG chair had insisted on a quality job.

“You can see for yourself how the quality is and we are still adding another stone base before we will undertake the final part,” he said.

Hon Henry Temisan, the councillor of ward twelve hailed the idea to rehabilitate the road insisting it is the best thing to happen to people of the ward and road users.

“You can see how happy, we all are at the rehabilitation. We must thank the council boss for undertaking the project. He did not look at it as a Federal road. He took time to commit fund to the job and what we have seen so far is commendable.”

In continuation, he said that the Sapele Benin Road by the Okirighwre Army check point will also be done to standard like.

Meanwhile, some motorists who spoke to newsmen during the inspection, hailed the chairman for his decision to rehabilitate the road, adding that so far so good he has fulfilled his promises.

Mrs Margaret Umukoro, a petty trader commended the council chairman for his efforts, hitherto, it was very difficult to convey farm produce to the market because of the bad road.

Mr Isaac Okoro, a keke rider who also spoke to newsmen commended the council boss for rehiabilitating the 200 metres Old Sapele Warri Road (Amukpe Garage), adding that the road was in a deplorable condition before the intervention.
