Okowa Will Bequeath A Better Delta — Onwuka

Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Community Newspapers, Mr Jonathan Onwuka, has stated that the administration of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is committed to living behind a better Delta, just as the governor has promised to complete all ongoing infrastructure and human capital development projects that will improve the living condition of Deltans and attract investors to the state.

Mr Onwuka said this on Thursday in Asaba, when he met with Executives and members of the Association of Community Newspapers Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN) at their secretariat, stating that the achievements of the government in the last six years is due to the commitment and determination of Governor Okowa towards ensuring that every part of the state feels the impact of the ongoing transformation cutting across various sectors of the economy.

“As you all know, this administration has embarked upon massive infrastructural development projects across all the sections of the state. The massive urban renewal efforts of this administration in areas of road construction which has gone beyond towns and villages, deep into the creeks.

“We have never had it this good in Delta as stakeholders from across party lines during the Delta at 30 interactive session attested to the great transformation going on in Delta which includes the befitting Ultra modern state secretariat project that is almost ready for inauguration, the massive storm drainage projects in Warri and Asaba which is designed to tackle the challenges of flooding as well as investment in education.

“This administration places priority in the education of our children from primary through secondary and at the tertiary level. Several schools have received government intervention either by construction or renovation of existing structures in a bid to give our children conducive environment for teaching and learning to take place.

“With the three new universities, we would have to a reasonable extent reduce the number of qualified students who pass their JAMB/UTE examination but due to lack of space, are not offered admission.

“The governor is consistently working for the good of all and as such, he needs our prayers because without God it is difficult to achieve a lot things we desire as humans,” he added

Hr continued: “You all know what we have done with youth empowerment in Delta through the various job creation programmes across various sectors ranging from STEP, YAGEP, RYSA, GEST and WESAP.

“Governor Okowa takes very seriously the issue of human capital development knowing that government cannot recruit everybody it to the state civil service where it will become problematic in paying their salaries and allowance. But with the successes recorded in the various streams, most beneficiaries have further trained and employed additional people in their business ventures.

“We are not a government that thrives on propaganda because what we have done is visible for the blind to see and audible for the deaf.

“Even in terms of sports development, the governor has shown utmost importance and supported our athletes who have further made the state proud by winning consecutive sports festival over the last six years including the glorious outing at Edo 2020.”

Onwuka who stated that it will take more than a day to reel out the achievements of the Okowa administration, further pleaded with the association to continue their support for the Governor, looking back at the last six years and as publishers who live in the various communities where these projects are being carried out.

Meanwhile, the State Chairman of the ACNPN, Comrade Jude Obiemeyego thanked Mr Jonathan Onwuka for giving the association a sense of belonging whilst charging members to be fair in their publications and always ensure that they verify their facts before publishing.

He expressed the groups commitment towards promoting the programmes and policies of the administration as partners in progress.
