Comrade Efemena Umukoro also known as Akima has reacted to a statement by Comrade Efe Kigho via Oasis Magazine that said he was on the run and failed to show up at the Erho Magistrate Court to defend allegations leveled on him bordering on issues of defamation, threat to life and conduct likely to breach the peace of the community.

Efe Kigho in the said publication added that he (Akima) “switched off his phone and went underground, later the phone came on and he has been on the run,” adding that “it is left for the police to look for him and produce him in court to face his charges.”

But, Umukoro, in his reaction via a statement on Wednesday sent to Oasis Magazine, insisted that Efe Kigho remains a former youth president of Oruarivie kingdom and opined that he “would have ignored such publication because it is laughable,” but it became imperative to reply him because his followers who are Urhobo youths wants him to clear the air.

He said: “I am a public figure and everything I do or say is within the law. First, let me make it clear, I can be easily reached by anybody as am presently at my hotel in Abraka. If not overzealoness, is it the function of Efe Kigho to teach the law enforcement agents their job? Today is Wednesday and am a very busy person, I was away from the state, I wasn’t aware that a case was to be registered in court today, if I do, I would have been in court with all the victims Efe Kigho brutalized while he was the president of Oruarivie youth.”

He continued: “It would be recalled that some few months ago due to the frequent complains of continuous harassment, intimidation by the youth body, the Ethiope East Local Government Area suspended all youth activities. By this pronunciation, Efe Kigho was affected.

“Instead of Efe Kigho to show the local government and the good people of Abraka Kingdom that he has repented and is ready to correct his wrong, he has decided to drag my reverred name into the mud. I would meet him in court with every person he victimized and oppressed.

“My position is clear , respect my people and we would be friends if not then we can’t be friends. My oath of office is to protect Urhobo youths and fight for their rights and never will I watch any body under any form intimidate my youths.”

According to the said statement, “I am available and I haven’t been reached by the police. I will be with the police tomorrow morning to know what he is talking about.”

Contacted, Efe Kigho in a statement sent to Oasis Magazine, said “Akima should stop playing games and report himself so justice can be served. He can’t run forever.”

“He is definitely aware of the date. We were at the police station and we were there on Monday and were asked to report on Wednesday for court.

“The DPO, DCO 1, IPO and Bar. Osheri was there.

“He even tried to curry favour by lying on the floor (like a Yoruba boy) when the Chief Magistrate came visiting the station (obviously for other assignment).

“I also wish to advice him to stop parading himself as UPU youth wing president. He is not and can’t be; Ovie Ebireri is the UPU Youth Wing President.

“We know his type. It’s a judicial notice that he tried with Hon. Evance Iwurie and spent about a year in Agbor prison.

“His case with Onos Ogidiagba and many of the youths in Abraka and beyond) is still fresh.

“As you can see, I give facts and figures and not speculations and blackmail which is his stock in trade,” the youth leader added.
