Skinn Ogboru Defects To PDP, Says Great Didn’t Value His Support, APC Will Lose Abraka In 2023
-I Have Moved To Where I Will Be Recognized, He Declares
By Daniel Dafe
Chief Skinn Ogboru, a member of the popular Ogboru family in Abraka and a relation of Great Ovedje Ogboru, on Saturday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that he crossed over to a place where he will be recognized.
Chief Ogboru, who spoke to journalists in his Abraka residence after PDP’s rally in Sapele, where he formally joined the PDP, said he has always been a PDP member, but because of his brother, Great Ogboru they do not believe he is in PDP.
In his words, “during election, blood is always thicker than water. I always support my brother. Not only me, majority of PDP members in Abraka supported him too because of brotherhood. But, I have made up my mind by saying yes to PDP now. Let’s call a spade a spade. I want the whole of Abraka, Ethiope East and Delta State as a whole to know that I have come to declare for PDP today, 23rd October, 2021. I have made up my mind and there is no going back.
“This time around, we will make Abraka people to understand that it is just few people that own political power in Abraka. When it comes to 2023, they will believe that. We will make sure we deliver PDP freely in the area and there will be no rancour. “
“When you are fighting for someone and the person you are fighting for is not appreciative what do you do? Do you know that before now, my brother (Great Ogboru) called me to say I’m in PDP despite that I am working for him. I am Great’s greatest enemy today. It is better I disassociate myself with them to go where people will recognise me. That is why I pulled out. They never believed in me. He will see the scores, come 2023 and know what politics is all about,” he averred.
He continued: “Of a truth, Abraka has not been having an opposition. Even though there are two major political parties, APC and PDP, APC always carries the day. But this time around, we will make them to understand that there are some key people that made APC to stay in Abraka. Now, the APC logo that is a broom, is the broom we will use to sweep their legs out of Abraka.”
Speaking about PDP in Ethiope East, he said PDP has been moving as a family, just as he urged them to continue.
“Let the brotherly relationship within the circle of the party continue the way it is,” he said.
To his parleys in Abraka APC, he said: “Those that have the understanding of what is on ground, my message to them is that they should quickly make up their mind to buckle up and join the ruling party in Delta State which is PDP. There’s no opposition in Delta State.”
Recounting his ordeal when he supported APC in the university community, he said: “Because of Great Ogburu I was arrested in the month of June, 2007. I was in prison when my wife gave birth to one of my sons. Today he is in SSS3, about to finish. But when I was in the struggle with Great, one of my other sons was born. He’s in 200 Level in the university. I have been following a road that leads nowhere.
“Great Ogboru is a political jobber. During elections he comes to Abraka, after election he disappears carrying millions and billions to feed his immediate family and forget about the other people. I was in detention for over six months for nothing. Great till today has never said what happened to me. I have moved to where I will be recognized and anything that makes Great come to PDP, I will leave PDP. “
According to him, Great’s problems in APC started when he went to pick his deputy from Obiaruku because Obiaruku is his maternal home.
