THOTH Foundation Empowers 40 Women With Sewing Machine In Osun

THOTH Foundation: The helper of the helpless has given a future and hope to forty (40) women from all walks of life as the foundation empowered them with sewing machines after the successful completion of their six months topnotch training in fashion design.

The graduation ceremony for the batch A 2021 trainees was held on Thursday, 28th October, 2021 at THOTH Secretariat, Jesus Court Building, Alekuwodo, Oke FIA, Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

The empowerment was part of the foundation’s calling by God to put smiles in the faces of the downtrodden and the less privileged in the society.

Speaking during the empowerment program, the initiator and Director of THOTH Foundation, Honourable Funmilayo Olasehinde-Mustapha, said the helper of the helpless Foundation was birthed of a divine call she received sometimes in 2002 but didn’t heed to and as a result suffered some setbacks which included but not limited to an ailment that made her be flown abroad twice.

She said her call cum efforts and prayers were brought into fruition in the year 2015 when Thoth Foundation was born.

“I welcome you all to this August occasion where we are all gathered to put smiles in the faces of the downtrodden and the less privileged in our society. I return all glory and honour to God for counting me worthy as vessel of hope to bringing smiles to the faces of women and children in grieve and want, by putting in place a foundation of hope for the needy; hence the birth of THOTH Foundation… the helper of the helpless – (Ajo Ajigbo Ti Alaini) in the year 2015.

“Today, we shall share with you testimonies from a select few of individuals whose lives THOTH foundation has been privileged to impact positively.

“Also today, THOTH foundation is glad to present to you forty graduating trainees out of the sixty women registered for the free skill training programme in fashion designing. These women have been trained to be self-reliant with a job for a living as THOTH Foundation in its benevolence and charitable manner will also empower each of them with a sewing machine each and other sewing materials free of charge,” she said

She further used the event as an opportunity to make a clarion call to highly placed people in the society to immensely intensify efforts to contribute to humanitarian services as governments at all levels may not be able to cater for all due to insatiability and unending needs of humans.

“We seize this medium to request your continuous support as all we have so far accomplished is just a starting point we are kicking off from today, so don’t be surprised if we request your hand in help to the wheel of THOTH Foundation vision rolling,” she said.

While speaking with newsmen, one of the graduates, Mrs E. O Kehinde thanked God for the grace of life.

She also appreciated Honorable Funmilayo Olasehinde for taking care of the beneficiaries.

On behalf of the other graduates, She prayed for long life to the honorable for giving them a new life.

Mrs Kehinde said she has the vision to be like Honorable Funmilayo Olasehinde by putting smile on the face of the people at the society.

Other beneficiaries, Temilola Bakare, who spoke with newsmen during the event, said: “It was a friend of mine that posted it on social media and when I saw it then I applied, the form is free, we didn’t not pay any money and we did free six month topnotch training.”

“God will continue to uphold her and She shouldn’t relent because She said it God’s divine mandate and must not die,” Temilola Bakare said.

While delivering speech on behalf of the wife of the governor, the wife of the Osun State Head of Service, Mrs Christiana Olowogboyega, eulogised the convener and director of THOTH Foundation, Hon. Funmilayo Olasehinde for putting this kind of program together to help those who are helpless in the society, “I want to sincerely appreciate you for this laudable programme. Indeed this is what we need in our society. We must use what God has deposited in us to help humanity.”

“Even before I became the wife of the governor, we have been using our foundation, Ilerioluwa Development Initiative to reach out to the downtrodden in our society. I want to charge others to also look at ways where they can assist the needy. Government alone cannot do it,” she said.

The event was graced by dignitaries in the State which included, the Osun State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Adegboyega Famodun, who was the guest of honour.

In his goodwill message, the chairman of the occasion, Prince Gboyega Famodun described Hon. Olasehinde as a goal getter who so much believed in making people happy at all times.

“Have known Hon Funmilayo for many years and she’s a fantastic human being who will always go out of her way to make people happy.

“The indelible impacts she made while serving as the council chairperson in Ifedayo local government is still there till today. It’s my prayer that God will continue to back you up in your future endeavors,” The Osun APC Chairman stated.

Also, Oluomo Sunday Akere; Doctor Adebisi Obawale, the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Mr. S.O Oyedemi who represented Commissioner for Commerce; Honourable (Mrs) Olaniyan Folake, SSA O’meals; Otunba Ademola Adefila; Prince Abiola Oloke; Honourable Raimi Opesina; Honourable Olu Oyewole; Honourable Olu Ibitoye; Honourable Debo Badru; Prince Oyedokun, Aliyu Akinloye, Mrs Ajala from Modakeke Ile Ife and among many others.

Below are names of the beneficiaries; A Corper from Nasarawa state, Oyedemi Grace, Oladapo Atinuke, Sunday Patricia, Adepoju Mojirada, and thirty five other members.
