Delta 2023: Agege Is Wasting His Time, Says Ogboru
By Daniel Dafe
A community leader in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Skinn Ogboru, has said that the Deputy Senate President and Member representing Delta Central in the senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s quest to become governor will not yield any result, adding that the DSP “is wasting his time.”
Chief Ogboru spoke to Oasis Magazine exclusively in Abraka, days after his visit to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Recall that the said politician recently dumped the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during a ceremony that was attended by the Chairman of PDP in the local government area, Chief Felix Erhiemedafe and some party leaders.
According to him, PDP is very strong in the state and cannot be defeated by any opposition party and that it was time for Deltans especially opposition party politicians to embrace the truth and join forces with the ruling party to move the oil-rich state forward.
Speaking about his visit to Okowa, he said: “”We went to visit the governor to thank him for a job well done.”
Speaking further, he said Okowa has performed better than Chief James Ibori and Dr. Emmauel Uduaghan.
He continued: “We know Ibori and Uduaghan tried in their days but not as the present governor we are having today. Okowa has done a lot.”
He said during the visit they made the governor see that Abraka has seen more dividends of democracy under him compared to any other governor.
He added: “I travelled to Asaba during my visit to the governor where I entered Asaba between 6-7 in the evening (the night was already falling). What I saw there surprised me. Okowa has done a lot. For example look at the new Secretariat he built now. I believe it will be one of the best in the whole country if I am not mistaking. Then we talk of roads in Asaba. The man has done a lot even in human capital development. The man has touched lives in other areas such as appointments. The man I will say is number one out of all the past governors we have produced so far. Only in Abraka here, I believe I can mention over 7 persons that are SSA to him. Previous administrations were not like this.”
“Look at the three new universities he has created in Anwai, Agbor and Ozoro. This will boost the economic recovery in Abraka since some faculties are now returning to Abraka and this will boost population in the community. If others emulate Governor Okowa, the state will move forward,” he averred.

While commending the governor for changing the narrative in Abraka, he appealed to him to consider tarring some more roads that needs working on, adding that Abraka also lacks transformers and they will be glad if he can intervene.
Asked what his message to Abraka people is, he said: “Yes, my message to them is, we want everyone that aren’t in PDP yet to do a rethink and join the party because there’s no way they can defeat PDP in this state. It’s the only party that’ll always carry the day.
“We have tried before now; my brother has gone to different parties. He came with different parties before now and then the ruling APC party. If someone in the ruling party cannot win an election so what else do you think will happen? So there’s no way any party can defeat PDP in this state. No magic about it.”
