Governor Tambuwal Escapes Death As Bandits Attack Kurawa Village

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has escaped death following an attack by suspected bandits who invaded Kurawa village in Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto state where three persons reportedly lost their lives.
According to Daily Trust, the attack took place shortly after Governor Tambuwal had left the area where he had been, to pay a condolence visit to the families of the travellers burnt to death by bandits along Sabon birni-Isa road on Monday.
While at the area, the Governor had announced a donation of N250,000 to each of the families. However, a few hours after his departure, bandits invaded the village around 8pm on Thursday, shooting sporadically.

“They came during late night prayer, shooting sporadically. They killed three of our people and injured several others who are currently in the hospital,” a resident said.
Spokesman of the Sokoto Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, could not be reached for comments, Daily Trust reports.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a high-level delegation, made up of the heads of the nation’s intelligence and security services, to Sokoto and Katsina States in response to the recent spike in bandits’ activities.
Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, said the President is expecting an immediate situation report and recommendations on actions to follow to effectively deal with the worrying situation from the team that left on Friday.
He said the delegation led by the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (Rtd), included the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi, the Director-General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar and the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Major General Samuel Adebayo.
