-Nab Tricycle Snatchers In Agbarho

A police team in Delta State has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Onwuka Kelly in Ughelli.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Edafe Bright, said Kelly was arrested on Monday, following a distress call that was received at about 8.25p.m. from an unidentified person resident in Otu-Jeremi Community in Ughelli South LGA, saying that some hoodlums stormed the community and kidnapped a young man along with his Toyota Corolla car.

According to the statement, the DPO Otu-Jeremi Division, acting on the said information, swiftly detailed patrol teams on the trail of the criminals, adding that before their arrival, policemen attached to the Counter Terrorism Unit, Base 5 Warri who were escorting their principal, coincidentally ran into the hoodlums and trailed the hoodlums to Ekrokpe Community.

“The hoodlums upon sighting the Police, shot at them and the team retaliated. The vehicle was successfully demobilized by the team and Kelly, aged 23 was arrested while the victim (name withheld) aged 37 of Egbo-Urhie Community of Ughelli South LGA was rescued unhurt.”

Items recovered from the suspect are one (1) cut to size double barrel gun, one (1) cut to size single barrel gun and one (1) live cartridge.

The police said investigation is ongoing.

In another development, the police on Tuesday, arrested two criminals into snatching of tricycle.

A tricycle (keke) rider had reported to the police in the area that two young men flagged him down at PTI junction Effurun and hired him to convey them to Agbarho, saying that on getting to Agbarho bridge along Ughelli-Portharcourt Expressway, one of the passengers hit him on the head, forced him out of the tricycle and robbed him of his tricycle.

Moved by his ordeal, the DPO Agbarho Division detailed operatives to investigate with a view to arresting the suspects and recovering the tricycle.

Consequently, on Wednesday, at about 12p.m., upon an intelligence-led investigation, the hoodlums were trailed to their hideout in Eghwarha road Agbarho, where two suspects, Goodluck Ahirima aged 24 and Charles Oyibocha also aged 24 were arrested and the snatched tricycle recovered.

The police said that investigation is ongoing.
