UPDATED: Armed Robbers Kill Two Policemen, Four Others In Edo Bank Attack

Four commercial banks were on Thursday evening attacked by gunmen in a siege that lasted over an hour in Uromi, Esan North East Local Council of Edo State.

Guardian reports that the gunmen, who were alleged to have come in their numbers and several vehicles, attacked the four banks with dynamites.

According sources in the town, the affected banks are Zenith Bank, First Bank, Unity Bank and the United Bank for Africa (UBA).

At the end of the operation, no fewer than five persons, including two police officers were killed by the gunmen.

The Guardian learnt that the robbers made away with large sum of money from the three banks.

Spokesman, Edo State Police Command, SP Bello Kontongs, confirmed the attack.

Kontongs said one of the four banks attacked is of the new generation.

He also confirmed the killing of the two Police officers and five civilians in the attack.
