Ogboru Set To Dump APC, Denies Joining NNPP
By Daniel Dafe
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the 2019 guber candidate of the party may be on his way out of the ruling party.
A statement on Tuesday by Omolu Tony, Public Relations Officer to Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, while expressing his heart-felt appreciation to all his supporters, members and stakeholders in APC Delta state for their massive support, sacrifices, commitments, tenacity and resilience all these years of the struggle for a new Delta, he said that they “waited patiently with dignified silence since the beginning of the shenanigans and vile maneuverings exhibited from the start of ward and LGA congresses through to the state Congress,” adding that “sadly, after the national convention,” they came to the conclusion that “the national leadership of APC and the power mongers at the state level are convinced that we, in the majority are unwanted and therefore dispensable.”
Adding: “Although, they cannot deny that we are the dominant side in the state, they believe we can be mistreated without consequences!”
“It has become necessary therefore to chat a new course where everyone of us will be recognized and appreciated to be free to actualise our individual and collective aspirations as citizens
“It is our firm belief that politics is not a do or die adventure, but rather a vehicle for service to the people. Therefore we should not despair or discouraged as the best is yet to come.”
Meanwhile, Omolu has denied news that Chief Ogboru had dumped APC and moved to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Sources had said that
Great Ovudje Ogboru dumped APC for NNPP after he had a consensus meeting with Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at Abuja, saying that he (Ogboru) was also given the national leader of the party.
“NNPP has recognized Ogboru as one of the national leader of the party,” the source added.
But when contacted, Omolu, said it was untrue.
“We are moving from the APC, but there is no platform yet,” he said.
