Police Arrest Man For Child Molestation In Warri

The Police in warri has arrested a 25 years old male by name, Olarewaju Omuwale ,for allegedly raping a 7 years old girl at Ajanimoga in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that Olarewaju is the son of the caretaker of the compound where the victim lives with her family.

Co-tenants of the victim who spoke with newsmen stated that the caretaker himself had sworn to do all it took to get his son out of the scandal because he had the money and connection.

The victim (name withheld) stated that the young man had dragged her into his room and threatened to kill her if she screamed or told anyone about what he did, but she knew she had to report the issue as soon as she was safely away from the young man.

The father of the victim who pleaded anonymity reported that the caretaker was a wealthy man and as he had vowed to deal with his (the victim) family.

He called on the public to help him secure justice for his daughter since he had no money to pursue the issue.

Mr. Kelvin Ejumudo, a human right activist, who spoke with newsmen stated that he had taken it upon himself to see that the offender did not go unpunished and also ensure the safety of the victim’s family, since the offender had threatened the family of the raped girl.

He stated further that justice is meant for everyone, whether poor or rich.

Both Mr. Ejumudo and the victim’s father called on the Ministry of Women Affairs, the Delta State Government and the human right community to ensure that justice was done in the issue.

It was reported that the Police had arrested the culprit and as at the time of filing this report, medical assessment of the victim had been carried out.
