BREAKING: Kidnappers Demand N50M Ransom For DELSU Lecturer, Idamoyibo

Kidnappers have demanded the sum of Fifty Million Naira (N50, 000,000) as ransom to secure the release of the Head of Department, Music, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Professor Ovaborhene Idamoyibo, who was kidnapped on Saturday in Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State.
Oasis Magazine learnt that the kidnappers contacted the victim’s wife, Mrs. Rosemary Idamoyibo, on Tuesday and gave her till on Friday to pay the said sum.
Professor Idamoyibo was kidnapped on Saturday night while on his way to Abraka after a family meeting in Sapele.
Eyewitnesses said that the incident happened at the popular Eku junction.

The kidnappers are said to have chased the lecturer who tried to escape after one of the back tyres of his Highlander Jeep was shot by the criminals.
Oasis Magazine gathered that the kidnappers also fired several gunshots into the air to scare away passersby, while they made their way to the premises of Aganbi Memorial Baptist Church, Eku where Professor Idamoyibo ran into after he abandoned his vehicle.
A source said that at least two other kidnap victims were in the vehicle that the lecturer was dragged into before they sped off back into Sapele Eku road.
Meanwhile, a source at Music Department said that staff and students have resorted to prayers on a daily basis between 10a.m. and 12noon for Idamoyibo’s release.
