Presidential aspirant of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has faulted a statement credited to one of late MKO Abiola’s daughter, Hasfat Abiola, who opined that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State is a replica of her late father, acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential elections.

Hafsat Abiola who was recently appointed as the Director-General, Yahaya Bello Presidential Campaign Organisation, said she is leading the campaign efforts for Governor Bello because she sees the qualities needed to take Nigeria to its right destination in him.

Hafsat had said one of the similarities between her late philanthropist father and the Kogi governor was that they both refused to have political godfathers.

But, Adebayo, in a tweet on Tuesday countered Hasfat.

His tweet said: “For I knew MKO Abiola personally, let me remind my peers: MKO was Africa’s Pillar of Sports, Mandela’s Hero, Castro’s buddy, Global Black Icon, President of presidents, Midas of Money, Accountancy Genius, Borderless Tycoon, SDP Candidate, Martyr of Democracy! Compared to a Clown?”

Although Bello’s name was not mentioned in the said tweet, it is right to assume that the post is Adebayo’s subtle way of setting the records straight, knowing what Abiola stood for.
