NIPSS Visit: OBJ Proffers Solution To Nigeria’s Problems

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that Nigeria needs a passionate and visionary leader that can steer the boat of the country to the promised land, which is devoid of greed, non-challant and unpatriotic elements.
Obasanjo made this known while playing host to the delegates of National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, (NIPSS), Senior Executive 44, group 7, who visited the Former President Nigerian President, on a study tour to Ogun State, on the way out of Nigeria’s problem and how to strengthen local governance.
He said Nigeria should look out and seek for a good Presidential candidate, who has good intentions for the masses, saying a visionary, courageous and brilliant leader who would not shy away from tackling corruption and banditry is what Nigeria needs now.
“Indeed, Nigeria is a secular state, which is very difficult to govern but with a courageous and visionary leader, who will take the bull by the horns in tackling our problem, you see, when you are able to do ordinary things that others are not able to do then you will do extraordinary things as a person”, he said
The former president further stated that Nigeria is created by God and to be a leading county, especially in the African continent, but collectively everyone needs to make it happen through focus, determination, commitment and visionary leaders.
He further reiterated that the local government is the closest tier of government to the people, which must have all the paraphernalia of good governance in its legislation, function, resources to fund itself and also means of providing security, provision of basic services to the people as these would guaranteed the reform local government system.
The ex president referred to NIPSS as an avenue for acquiring education, teaching and learning, saying participants should be given more years to impart their wealth of experience before they are retired.
Earlier, the Director General of the Institute, Prof. Ayo Omotayo who led the participants on the visit said meeting with the icon is a rear privilege, just as he enjoined them not to only tap but fetch buckets from his wealth of experience.
