Group Warns Bayelsa APC Against Olorogun And Wilson Candidature, Says There’s No Chance Of Winning The General Election With Them

A group under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa West has warned against the candidature of the Ekeremor Constituency 2 House of Assembly flag bearer, Kennedy Olorogun, and the Bayelsa West Senatorial flag bearer, Wilson Ayakpo, stressing that with them there is little or no chance of winning the general election.

A statement signed by the chairman of the group, Hon. Pereyibofa Wilson, reads in part:

“The duo are from the same ward and community specifically ekeremor main town which is a stronghold of the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, which will be a difficult task for the party to pull votes in the general election.

“It is important to note that the party shouldn’t be in a hurry to forget that majority of the Ekeremor community votes are determined by the former Minister of State for Agriculture, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, which the duo are not in good terms with in the party.

“The Ekeremor constituency two house of assembly party ticket will see the light of the day if the ticket is given to a more popular and sellable candidate from ward ten where the opposition candidate is from, which the votes of the ward will be divided by both party candidates, the APC and the PDP.

“Investigations reveal that ward ten and ward six in ekeremor constituency two have never produced a house of assembly member in history of the constituency since the practice of democratic system of government.

“The ruling political party, the Peoples Democratic Party strategically gave the party ticket to a youths leader and grassroot field player to compensate the constituency for the political deprivation over the years.

“It is worthy of note that the Ekeremor community where the serving house of assembly member is from, Hon. Wilson Ayakpo Dauyegha has produced over three lawmakers for the past decades, which will be very difficult for another candidate to win election in the constituency.

“It will be an act of deliberate failure of the party to allow two people from an opposition party dominated community to get the party senate and house of assembly tickets.”

Mr Wilson stated that the chances of the two party candidates winning the general election can be described as a journey of sending dogs to fight lions in their own territory fully knowing the end result.

“It will be a conscious attempt of total failure by fielding the two candidates for the general election, which the party leadership should look into it with immediate effect,” he added.

Mr Wilson further appealed to the party state chairman, Barr Dennis Otiotio, and the leader of the party, Chief Timipre Sylva to make proper investigations in order to forestall the failure of the party in the general election.

“The two above-mentioned candidates of the party do not have the widespread grassroot support to win the general election for the party” he said.
