Tinubu/Shettima: “Govt. Doesn’t Exist To Assuage Egos Of Religious Leaders” –Keyamo
Says “Countries Develop As A Result Of Visionary Leadership”
By Daniel Dafe
Again, Hon. Minister of State, Labour & Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has given reasons why the choice of ex-Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as running mate to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu was in order.
Mixed reactions have since followed the announcement of the muslim/muslim ticket of the APC.
The Christian Association OF Nigeria, CAN, and many others had warned against a Christian/Christian ticket and as well a Muslim/Muslim ticket.
But, Tinubu on Sunday went ahead with his choice of a northern muslim, saying that there are no other options.
Many have said he shot himself on the foot with his VP choice.
Recall that the Legal Adviser of APC, Daniel Bwala resigned following the announcement on Sunday.
On Sunday, Keyamo described the pick of the former governor as a perfect VP choice.

Also, Keyamo in a early Monday tweet, said that “government does not exist to assuage egos of religious leaders but to bring about development for everyone.”
His tweet added: “Today, most religious leaders in Nigeria go to Dubai and the USA for shopping & holidays when the UAE is being governed by Muslims & the USA is being governed by Christians.”
According to him, “there’s no country in the world where history tells us that its development was as a result of ‘balanced’ presidential tickets (in terms of religion) over the years; countries developed as a result of visionary leadership and not because they pandered to some religious sentiments.”
