Discharge Your Duties With Fairness, Justice, Gov. Okowa Tells Mosogar Monarch

The Delta State Governor and Vice Presidential candidate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate for 2023 general elections on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa has charged the Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Sunday Odogu Okpurhie Uduaka 1 to discharge his duties in the kingdom with fairness and justice, just as he urged him to use his office to support government’s policies and programmes to move the state forward.
Governor Okowa gave this charge over the weekend when he presented the monarch the staff of office in Mosogar in Ethiope West Local Government Area Delta State.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, said Mosogar has been a peaceful kingdom since its inception and urged him to maintain its peaceful nature and coexistence with its neighbouring Kingdoms.
He said: “While we congratulate you for your successful ascension of the throne after the demise of the first king, we urge you to uphold the santity of the stool and do all within your powers to support state government’s policies and programmes to move the state to the next level.”
Governor Okowa said it is a known fact that Mosogar people are predominantly farmers and traders who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the state’s economy and charged them to be law abiding and continue to support the growth and development of the state.
He therefore wished the king God’s guidance, wisdom and good health to pilot the affairs of the kingdom.
Governor Okowa promised to look into the challenges of power outage plaguing the kingdom for the past eight years and also promised to address the challenges of the College of Education, Mosogar and the boundary disputes between the kingdom and Edo State.

In his keynote address, the Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area, Pastor Nelson Oghenedoro Owosu expressed joy for the governor to have presented staff of office to the new monarch in order to fill the vacant royal stool created by the demise of late King HRM Udurhie 1 (JP) who joined his ancestors on the 18th of December, 2021.
While congratulating the new king, saying he deserved the throne, he prayed for his long reign, peaceful and prosperous life just as he charged him not to deviate from the path of his predecessor in order to move the kingdom to greater heights.
Pastor Oghenedoro appealed to the new king to institute a leadership style devoid of pettiness, sectionalism, partiality, discrimination and favouritism, urging him to sustain the existing peace, security of lives and property in the domain for all the good people of the kingdom.
He also used the medium to charge all sons and daughters of the kingdom to continue to accord the Royal Father the maximum co-operation and support required to take the kingdom to the next level.
Earlier in his address, the Royal Majesty, the Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom, Sunday Odogu Okpurhie Uduaka 1 expressed joy for the staff of office given to him for the day.
He said since the inception of the kingdom, it has enjoyed government’s benevolence in the areas of roads, schools, hospital among others.
He thanked the state government from the leadership of former Governor, Chief James lbori to ex-Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and now Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, traditional rulers, chiefs for their efforts in moving the kingdom forward.
He however appealed to the state government to look into the challenges of power outage of the kingdom for the past eight years just as he called on the government to see that Delta State College of Education, Mosogar is befitting for academic work to take place and the boundary disputes between the kingdom and Edo State for some years now is resolved.
The climax of the programme was the presentation of the staff of office to the king amidst cheers.
