Rights Activist Blasts Omo-Agege Over Promise To Build Palace For Oghara Monarch With State Budget

A lawyer and rights activist in Delta State, Omemiroro Maxwell Ogedegbe, has said that it was not right for the Senator representing Delta Central and Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, who is in the race to become the next governor of the state, to have promised to fund the building of a new palace for a king in Urhobo, if he takes over, come 2023.

Senator Ovie Omo Agege promised to build a befitting palace for the King of Oghara, HRM Orefe 111.

Ogedegbe took to his Facebook page to express his disappointment.

The lawyer’s post titled: ‘Politicians and Political Promises,’ said Omo-Agege told the monarch the project would be put in the 2023 appropriation bill and when enacted the palace project would commence.

Adding: “So we have to wait for the enactment of the 2023 appropriation bill to be signed into law for the palace project to be approved, wait for disbursement before our king can have a palace?”

According to his post, “the king did a fundraising and it would have been better for Senator Ovie Omo Agege to make his donation than to make this vague promise.”

He quizzed: “How many palace have been built in Nigeria upon the national budget?”

Continuing, he said that “it would have been better to tell our king that when he becomes the governor, he would ensure the king gets a palace of his dream than “carry the old man to where he no know.”

“National budget for palace? Senator Agege whyyy na. Everything must not be politics,” his post concluded.
