By Sylvester Imonina
The Leadership of PDP in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State and Party faithful have certified His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori and other PDP Candidates as worthy Ambassadors of the Party, who will do the Party, Deltans, and Nigerians proud if given the mantle of leadership in 2023. The position of the leadership of the Party was explicitly made known by the presence and views expressed by the political creme de la creme of the Party in the Local Government Area.
Amongst those who spoke glowingly of the choice of the Party’s Candidates are: Rt. Hon. Leo Ogor Okuweh, Chief Fred Obe, Dr. Emmanuel Okoro; the pioneer Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Ovuzuorie Macauley, Deacon Godwin Ogorugba (the Party LGA. Chairman), Hon. Ovie Oghoore, Dr. Paul Oweh, and other notable leaders who were on ground to display their unalloyed support for the Party. In separate speeches/comments, they all enjoined Party’s faithful to put behind themselves the past and work for the common good of the Party.
The PDP rally which took place in Ozoro, the Headquarters of Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, witnessed the presence of the who is who in Isoko North PDP who were misjudged and rumoured by political hirelings of the opposition Party to be working at cross purposes! Amongst those present at the rally were: Chief Emmanuel Edevor, Chief Kome Okpobor, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, Hon. Jaswill Asaba, Dr. Patrick Akporuno, Barr. Vote Umukoro, Hon. Patrick Ferife, Hon. Jonathan Umukoro, Hon. Mike Ogwa, Dr. Evelyn Aluta, Hon. Christian Iteire (the Local Government Council Chairman), Dr. Andrews Elueni, and a host of others. The Rally afforded the leadership of the Party opportunity to cross-fertilize ideas and reawaken and bond their political friendship.
Meanwhile, in the course of the State Chairman, Chief Kingsley Esiso addressing the Party’s faithful, he enjoined them to put aside their individual differences and work for PDP 5/5 in the 2023 general elections. He posited that the PDP umbrella is big enough to accommodate diverse interests in the Party.
On his part, the Governorship Candidate of the PDP in Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori publicly revealed that his wife is an Isoko daughter; therefore, he holds the Isokos in high esteem. He promised to do everything within his power to make sure that Isoko Nation is not shortchanged in the scheme of things, if elected as the Governor of Delta State in 2023. According to him, he sees himself as an Isoko who believes in the development of the Isoko Nation.
His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa promised to be a good Ambassador of Delta State at the Federal level if the opportunity is given to Atiku Abubakar and himself to take charge of the leadership of the Country. He promised to replicate the good works he is doing in Delta State at the Federal level.
The rally which was carnival-like in nature, gave Party faithful the opportunity to express themselves freely. And from the body language of the Isokos and Party faithful, Isoko Nation is PDP, and PDP is Isoko Nation. The people are only waiting to put their thoughts into action by voting PDP en masse, come 2023.
