Court Sentences Seven Persons For Human Trafficking

The Benin Zonal Command of The National Agency for The Prohibition in Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has secured the conviction of seven persons in four different cases of human trafficking.
The Zonal Commander, Mr Emeka Nwawenne who was highly elated, said all the convictions which came with terms of imprisonment, hard labour and fines are from four convictions on four different cases involving seven accused persons.
The Anti- human trafficking agency secured the convictions in FRN V. Amaze Ogieriakhi in charge No: NNNCN/BEN/2c/2022 at the National Industrial Court, Benin Division before Justice A.A. Adewemimo in the case which was filed on October 13, 2022.

The convicts, Ogieriakhi Amaze was sentenced to two years improvement with hard Labour and a fine of #200,000, while Fatima Joy, Odiri Joseph were sentenced to three years imprisonment in the charge under Section 13(4)(c)TIPPEA Act 2015.
In FRN V. Lucky Ogudu charge No: NNNCN/ BEN/3c/2022 which was also filed at the Industrial Court in Benin, Justice Adewemimo handed the accused persons twelve months imprisonment with hard Labour and a fine of #50,000.
The command also secured the convictions of other three persons, Okafor Ebere, Otungi Isioma and Peace Okafor who were sentenced by the trial Judgto one year imprisonment with hard Labour and a fine of #200,000 each.
