Delta PDP Loses Intellectual Wing To APC




The Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State was on Sunday torn further apart as leaders of its intellectual wing under the aegis of Delta Unity Group, DUG, with thousands of their followers across the twenty five local government area in Delta State officially dumped the umbrella party, collapsing all their structure for the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Chairman of DUG, Rt. Hon. Daniel Reyenieju said the PDP under Okowa has lost its way, adding that PDP is no longer appealing to Deltans.

Analysing the forthcoming elections, Reyenieju who was a three term member of the House of Representative, said when you put the APC gubernatorial candidate, Omo-Agege alongside that of other party’s especially the PDP, it becomes so easy to see why majority of Deltans are rooting for Agege.

He announced that the leaders of DUG with their over six thousand members across the state have all decided to collapse their structures and work to deliver all candidates of the APC, which they described as credible and reliable.

Rt. Hon. Imegwu Olise, former speaker of DTHA, Hon. Evans Ivwurie, Comr. Michael Akpobire and other leaders of DUG who spoke, lambasted Okowa for running the PDP like a one man’s show.

They said PDP before Okowa used to be a party that prides itself as a breeding ground of intellectuals, which Okowa himself is a product of.

They vowed to bury what is left of the PDP first in the February presidential and parliamentary elections, with the party’s impending defeat in the March gubernatorial elections, final nail in their coffin.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Governorship Candidate of the APC, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi said he is overjoyed seeing the calibre of people joining the party from all over Delta.

According to Osanebi, the forthcoming elections is no longer about his principal, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, himself or APC as a party, stating that it’s now the masses movement.

He reiterated for the umpteenth time that when elected, the APC will bring development to the doorsteps of Deltans.
