Western Delta University Law Students Sensitize Electorates On PVC Collection In Oghara

The Law Students Association, LAWSA, Western Delta University, Oghara Chapter, during a two-day sensitization campaign, has called on Oghara metropolis to get their PVC ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

According to the President of LAWSA, Master Louis Sakpade, his Vice President, Miss. Beluchucku Faith and their Think Tank colleagues, on Thursday, 2nd and Friday 3rd, January, 2023, was set aside to educate the mammoth crowd in Oghara market square and all well meaning sons and daughters of Oghara environs on the importance of their PVC.

Speaking to Oasis Magazine via a telephone conversation, the president, said they interacted with traders in the popular Oghara Market and thereafter visited the Oghara junction and other areas for the sensitization.

He said: “We met over 100, 000 persons. We have preached the importance of PVC collection which gives everyone of us equal rights to decide those who are voted in during the coming 2023 elections.

“Our aim was not to promote any candidate or political party., Our message was straight- use your votes to determine our future. That the only way to it and get it right is with the harmless weapon PVC.”

In addition, the Vice President said, the economic woes in our present state is an eye opener to everyone, but said that the only solution to correct this economic mess is to collect and use the PVC wisely and change the narratives.

“Our vote is our power and with this we can determine our future.”

Reaching out to the University Mayor and the immediate past southern league leader of the 5th Senate of Law Students Association of Nigeria and now the Controller General of the state on drug Abuse in University campuses, who also is the present head of the university legal clinic, Sen. Edevbie Emmanuel, through a telephone interview, thanked the leaders of the association for coming up with this noble idea to urge residents of Oghara metropolis on the need and usefulness of the PVC, adding that it is a bold step by the President and his Vice.

In his words, “LAWSA has not only done well in sensitizing the people, but also did noble by promoting the image of the legal profession and the university; that the profession maintains a platform that survived the space of time with so many challenges but still remains the hope and the voice of the common man.

Mayor Edevbie who also holds other positions in international bodies, expressed satisfaction at the large turnout of LAWSA members for the two-day programme, just as he hinted that he is optimistic that the president and his intelligent executive members have more to offer during their tenure.

He thanked the Vice Chancellor, Professor Augustine Ikelegbe and his dogged management team for changing the face of the university into a fine and enviable one, saying that just few months in office, the university witnessed her first inaugural lecture by Prof. Emmanuel Okaka, and presently the university has other professional courses apart from Law,, such as Nursing, Medlab etc.

He added that he was not surprised with the recent positive developments of the university because history has it on records that Prof. Ikelegbe is not just a professor but a listening leader who never does away with any positive ideas.

Speaking further, he said working with him over time as the Mayor of the university was more of a fatherly relationship.

“I described him some time ago as a catalyst of development and a goal getter,” he said.

Also specially, he thanked the Professor of Law, the Dean of Faculty of Law, Western Delta University, Prof Vincent Akpotatere for his huge efforts and dogmatic style towards the well development of the law students.
