BEDC Petitions Staff Over Infraction
BEDC Electricity Plc. has filed a petition against one Mr. Timothy Oyedele, a staff of BEDC Electricity attached to Oguanja 1( Dsso) of Sapele Region of Delta State.
The said Mr. Timothy Oyedele, was caught using a non-BEDC staff popularly known as “NEPA2”, was subsequently arrested and will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
This petition was premised of a deliberate disregard for the company’s policy and stern warning on the use of “NEPA 2″ in carrying out operations of BEDC network.
From the internal investigation carried out, it was discovered that the said Mr. Timothy Oyedele with his accomplice Issac, popularly known as NEPA 2” have been in the habit of defrauding customers by collecting money from them as payment for energy without the issuance of receipt for such payment which is against the company’s policies.
It is important to recall that the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BEDC, Dr. Henry Ajagbawa has previously appealed to customers and staff through print and electronic media to only make payments through our approved payment channels, to always collect receipt of payment and to disassociate themselves from infraction of any kind as such atrocious act is a punishable offence under the law.

Dr Ajagbawa indicated that BEDC will rely on the Electric power sector reform act, Miscellaneous Offence Act and the Nigerian Criminal Code as enshrined in the constitution to prosecute infraction crimes and other practices inimical to the operations of the company.
In conclusion,the managemmeent said BEDC is prepared to apprehend and prosecute anyone caught in infraction, noting that this will serve as a deterrent to others.
