Sapele NUJ Elects New Leaders

The Nigeria Union of Journalist, NUJ, Sapele Chapel, Delta State, has elected what seems to be a promising vibrant executive leadership that will pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years.
The election supervised by some State executive members led by the Secretary, Comrade Patrick Ochie, held on Thursday at the union’s secretariat in Sapele.

Also present was the State Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu.
Results announced saw Nelson Agbajor polling a total of 12 votes to emerge Chairman, taking over from Godwin Oghre.
His opponent, Prince Oromonokpaye, scored 7 votes.
For the office of Secretary, Publisher, Oasis Magazine, Daniel Umukoro, emerged winner with 12 votes, defeating Oyibo Vwiare Valerie of the Ministry of Information, who got seven votes.
Also, Esada Uyono emerged the union’s Treasurer after Daily Independent’s Victor Ituta stepped-down, saying he would not want to contest with one he regards as his daughter.
The positions of Vice Chairman, Assistant Secretary, Financial Secretary and Auditor were unopposed.
By these, Stephanie Odiete of Sapele Mirror Magazine, (Vice Chairman), Rita Daniels (Assistant Secretary), Ogo Clarkson of Topsportsafrik (Financial Secretary) and Dorothy Egwe (Auditor) who ran for the said positions were all elected unopposed.
Comrade Patrick Ochie swore-in the six executive members, just as Comrade Ikeogwu urged them to be magnanimous in victory and as well committed to the growth of the union.
While addressing newsmen, the new Chairman, Agbajor enjoined all members of the chapel to support him and his exco and assured that with the new breed of leaders piloting the affairs of the union, greater things will be achieved.
“The door for suggestions and criticisms is open for all,” he added.
