DELSU Faculty Of Education Trains Academic Staff On Digital Results Computation

The Dean, Faculty of Education, Delta State University, Abraka, Professor (Mrs) F.N Ugoji has stressed the need for all academic staff especially course advisers in the faculty to take more seriously the idea of good digital result compilation for greater service delivery and prompt submission of result, to the faculty and the University at large.

Professor (Mrs) F.N Ugoji was giving a keynote address recently at a one-day Training Workshop organized for course advisers in the faculty of Education.

The workshop is geared towards upping the game for a better, fast and articulated result compilation.

Articulating the importance of the workshop, the Professor of Guidance and Counselling, who was the immediate past Director of SIWES noted that the Faculty of Education being the mother of all other faculties in the university, needs to take the lead in preparing error free results for students, thus making the work of the Business committee of Senate easier.

On assumption of office on the 3rd of January 2023, the Dean promised to work in line with the administration of the “Digital Vice Chancellor”, Professor Andy Egwunyenga in making the faculty more visible and result oriented.

A renowned academic in the Department of Accounting and Finance, Dr. Jeroh was the facilitator, who came to train course advisers on the use “Digital Result Template” for easy result computation.

Dr Jeroh took time to install the templates for all course advisers through the Faculty ICT committee members (Dr Mrs Ogbomo, Dr Lawrence Arumuru, Mr Akpokiniovo Samuel and Mr Buzome) and explained all the interface in the result template to course advisers.

Dr Jeroh explained the fundamental components of result template to the reduction of randomness in result compilation.

The templates, according to him, involve identification and organization of all course, among others.

He concluded that the ability to make effective use of the digital result template was a key component of being a course adviser.

He said that the Result template is so perfect that once scores of the students are entered, the template on its own calculates the grade point average (GPA), the cumulative grade point average CGPA and also brings out all the compulsory courses outstanding for each student.

The training was a rigorous one which took over 4 hours, for a better understanding.

Participants after the training were excited with the development and thanked the Dean, for creating the atmosphere for them to learn the digital result template.

They promised to work with the template and take their work more serious in making her administration as the Dean a better one.
