115, 305 Pupils Write Primary Six Cognitive Examination In Delta

A total of 113,305 pupils in public and private primary schools in Delta State have written the 2023 Primary six Cognitive/Placement Examinations.

The examination held simultaneously in all the designated centres across the state with strict adherence to the guidelines stipulated by the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

Speaking to journalists shortly after monitoring the conduct of the examination, State Commissioner for Primary Education, Chief Sunday Onoriode expressed satisfaction.

Chief Onoriode described primary six leaving certificate examination as the foundation of the educational pursuit of every child.

He, however, admonished the candidates to be aware of the importance of the examination , adding that they should approach every examination seriousness and with utmost commitments.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro encouraged the pupils to believe in themselves and put in their best, explaining that any candidate that failed the examination would repeat the class.

Mr. Oghoro, who monitored in Asaba and other parts of Delta North, expressed optimism that the candidates would perform well in the examination.

While also expressing satisfaction with the conduct of the examination , Mr. Oghoro reiterated the determination of his Ministry to improve on the standards of its examinations.

On his part, the Director of Examinations and Standards in the Ministry, Mr. Sunday Egomagwuna said that materials for the smooth conduct of the examinations were sufficient, stressing that there was no shortage of materials in all the examination centres.

Mr. Egomagwuna listed subjects written by the candidates to include English Studies, Mathematics, General papers and CRK/IRK.
