Professor Egwunyenga Reaffirms Promise To Make DELSU Best State University In Nigeria
By Daniel Dafe
Vice-Chancellor, Delta State University, Abraka, Professor Andy Egwunyenga has said that despite the present ranking that placed the institution as the 4th best University, his promise to ensure that DELSU becomes the best state university in Nigeria was still his goal.
He gave the assurance during a press conference recently in Abraka while responding to an observation by a journalist.
The VC had announced that DELSU now occupies the position of 4th best state university in Nigeria.
But the said journalist recalled that the VC while assuming office had promised to make the university the best state university in Nigeria.
Responding, Prof. Egwunyenga, said: “When I made that statement, we were number 13, few years later, we moved up to 7th; last year we were 5th and now we are 4th. Are we not moving towards number 1?”
He added: “Don’t be surprised that if you come one or two years later and I announce to you that we are now number one. I think that the trajectory has been that of progress.”
