Beneku Blockage: Nnamdi Ezechi Imtervenes, Community Suspends Protest

The member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Nnamdi Ezechi has intervened on the ongoing protest by the youths and women of Beneku community who carried out a blockage against the Sterling Global Oil Company for not implementing the agreement reached with the host community (Beneku).

The community has embarked on the blockage for the past seven days in request for the implementation of their demand which includes construction and rehabilitation of roads and the reinstatement of dismissed workers from the community among others.

The Honourable member representing Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Nnamdi Ezechi visited the Beneku Community for an on the spot assessment and to profer solution to the lingering issues raised by the community.

The Honourable member who made a stop over at the company’s office, laised with the management to ensure the demands of the community are met and peace restored in the interest of all. The management while appreciating Rt Hon Nnamdi Ezechi for his swift response as the protest has crippled the company’s activities for the past seven days and promised to comply with the agreement reached at the end of the meeting scheduled to hold tomorrow.

Rt Hon Nnamdi Ezechi while at Beneku Community, appreciated the youths and women of the community for conducting themselves peacefully while agitating for their rights and privileges as host community. He also enjoined the youths to always conduct themselves in a peaceful manner and present their demands in line with the law and not take laws into their hands.
He stated that the Delta State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor, all communities will witness the swift intervention of Government at all times and that with the personality of the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Sir, Lion Monday Onyeme, Ndokwa Nation will be great again.

The Honourable however appealed to the community to lift the blockage and give room for a peaceful resolution as the State Government led by the Executive Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori/Monday Oyeme has set up a meeting with the Company and delegates from the community scheduled to hold tomorrow 23rd June 2023. He assured that the current leadership of the State Government will consolidate the efforts of the immediate past Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa.

He also assured that the community and the company would come to a positive resolution and implementation at the end of the day.

The community spokesman, Chief Osademe Iwuegbue, the CDC, the youths through the P.R.O and other excos present at the moment and the women representative who spoke respectively appreciated Rt Hon Nnamdi Ezechi for his divine intervention and for making them proud. Secondly, the community assured him of their readiness to support the state Government against all odds and also for his leadership prowess at the National Assembly amongst others. They expressed their joy and applauded the magnanimity of the Honourable member towards the community by taking their issue as his first assignment after his inauguration. The community however, promised to continue to support the PDP led Government of the state because they came to their aide at this crucial time. They lifted the protest and promised to cooperate with Ezechi’s directives over their demands.

Rt Hon Nnamdi Ezechi while responding to the appreciation and showers of praises by the entire community stated that his emergence as the Honourable member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency is divine and would work for all his constituents irrespective of who voted for him or not. He also appreciated the community for according him the respect to lift the protest and promised to ensure that the issue will be resolved amicably to the advantage of both parties.

At Kwale, Rt Hon Nnamdi Ezechi hosted some youths and his convoy to a sumptuous meal and purchased fuel for some vehicles to cushion the effect of the high cost of PMS due to the subsidy removal.

A youth who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated Rt Hon Nnamdi Ezechi and stated that the Ndokwa Nation can now boast of having a leader who holds Ndokwa people dear to his heart and called on all Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency to give him maximum support in other to bring the dividends of good representation from the National Assembly.
