Joel-Onowakpo Thanks APC Isoko Nation For Electoral Support

…Gives Reasons Why Inaugural Reception, Thanksgiving Were Fixed In Senatorial District

Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, distinguished senator representing Delta South senatorial district in the 10th National Assembly, has thanked the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Isoko Nation for the key role played in the February 25, 2023 general elections which he emerged victorious.

Joel-Onowakpo said there can not be a better time to appreciate the party for their ardent support before, during and after the elections knowing fully well that their unity of purpose was instrumental to his victory.

The distinguished senator in the company of a distinguished leader of APC in Isoko Nation, Arc Ambrose Okuhor, said after his victory, some persons were recalcitrant, saying he would not be inaugurated but all their sinister moves have been proved abortive.

“After the elections, I was addressed as the Senator-Elect while some persons who would not accept the mandate freely given to me by the good people of Delta South, boasted that I will not be inaugurated but as I speak to you, I am now the senator representing the good people of Delta South.

“My status today is a result of your resolve to stand by me and vote for me overwhelmingly. You did not stop at the victory but have continued to support me seamlessly. I can not thank you all enough because the party has proved that it is committed to the course which was evident in my victory.

He, however, appealed to the leadership and members of the APC to continue to support him in any way they can, adding that their intercessory prayers will go a long way open greater doors for the senatorial district comprising Isoko, Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo.

Nevertheless, the distinguished senator explained why he chose to hold his inaugural reception and thanksgiving in his hometown, stating that everyone partook in his victory so they must be allowed to partake in the celebration.

Joel-Onowakpo, while also appreciating those who journeyed to Abuja during his inauguration, noted that the ceremony at Abuja was organised by friends and associates but the mega ceremony being organised by him for the people of Delta South has been scheduled for this Sunday, 25 June, 2023.

He stressed that one of his reasons to fix the reception in Delta South was to checkmate the incidents and hazards associated with travelling through such a bothersome distance to the federal capital territory.

“Even those who made it to Abuja encountered several challenges associated with travelling a long distance through the Nigerian roads,” he said. “Those who came by air were not left out as they encountered challenges due to the traffic and other peculiar issues,” he added.

Earlier, the leader of APC Isoko Nation, Chief Lucky Esigie briefed the party members why the meeting was convened and underscored that the distinguished senator was instrumental to the gathering.

Leaders present were the leader of Isoko South APC, Hon Lucky Okperi, his Isoko North counterpart, Dcn Isaac Osiobe, Delta State APC welfare director, Mrs Hopelyn Ayu, former NDDC commissioner, Dr Ogaga Ifowodo, APC LGA chairmen (North & South), Barr Daniel Emebuno & Mr Vincent Egbogbo, Barr Vincent Omorie, ward leaders and others.
