Lagos Police Dismiss Sergeant For Transferring N98K From N100k In A Young Man’s Account

The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed one Sergeant Ekpo Shinuyere, for transferring the sum of N98,000 out of the N100,000 in a man’s account.

The Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin on May 31, revealed that, Shinuyere extorted the sum N98,000 from the victim’s account which he transferred through a Point Of Sale (POS) machine.

The police received a complaint from the victim and upon interrogation, Shinuyere denied the allegation. He was detained so he wouldn’t tamper with evidence.

“We wrote to his bank and got his statement of account. We were able to traced the money to where the POS operator transferred it before transferring it to the officer’s account.

We followed due process to get his account. The victim was invited in the course of investigation, and he testified.”

According to Hundeyin, the POS operator was also invited and he revealed that the officer told him to transfer the sum from the account of the victim’s to another account.

The Lagos Police Commissioner after all due processes have been followed approved that Sergeant Shinuyere with force No 4616 and attached to the Shogunle Police Division should be dismissed from the force.
